Pakistan Women under Sana Mir have the best chance to win ICC Women’s T20 2016

Pakistan Women’s captain Sana Mir has always led from the front, and has turned the side into one of the most formidable units in the world. Her off-spinners and useful contributions with bat down the order have taken Pakistan a long way. They are one of the firm favourites to win the ICC World T20 2016 and after beating West Indies Women in their opening match, the team will surely be oozing with confidence for the remaining matches. Sana has led Pakistan Women in 62 Women’s T20Is out of a total of 64 matches since 2009. She has lead Pakistan to great heights during her tenure as captain. Sana led Pakistan to a Gold Medal in 2010 Asian Games. She not only flourished as a player, but she has let the others too come up the ranks. She is the eighth-ranked bowler in Women’s ODI ranking, and has consistently been in the top 20 of Women’s T20I rankings for the past nine years.
Under Sana’s leadership, over eight players have broken through to the top 20 of ICC rankings. This shows that Sana is someone who can carry the team along with her. Pakistan have already suffered a major setback after losing their star opening batter Javeria Khan after she was struck on the jaw in the opening match of the tournament, and how Sana inspires her team will define things for Pakistan Women through the tournament.
Pakistan Women have a strong squad, but will rely in Sana, who idolises the likes of Imran Khan and Waqar Younis. She recently revealed that MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are her favourite contemporary: cricketers “There are couple of names. If I just talk about my players, I think Virat Kohli is the favourite cricketer. Personally, Dhoni is my favourite player because he had led India. He has handled himself well on and off the field. He has transformed a team of juniors into an effective unit.”
Just like under Dhoni, many players have blossomed under her. Pakistan Women may not have tasted a lot of success but are certainly heading in the right path under Sana’s leadership.source-intoday
