The ICC Womens T20 World Cup Championship 2016 begins on March 15
2016. The tournament will involve 10 teams fighting it out to emerge as
winners and holders of the T20 World Cup. The ten teams are divided into
two groups,Group A and Group B. Teams will face each team once in the
group stages before the top 2 teams from both the groups go on and
battle in the semi-finals of the tournament. Group A contains Australia,
Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka. On the other hand
Group B has Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan and West Indies.
The tournament will take place in India, which will also be holding the
Men’s World T20 Championship during the same time. The first match will
be played between India and Bangladesh at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in
Bangaluru. The other venues are - Chennai, Kolkata, Dharamsala, Delhi,
Mohali, Nagpur and Mumbai.
The first of the Semi-finals will take place on 30th March 2016 at
Ferozeshah Kotla in Delhi and the other semi-final will be played on the
next day at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The final will take place on
3rd April 2016 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Meanwhile the warm-up matches for the tournament will begin from 10th March onwards.
