Both teams started off with a loss to New Zealand. Both registered scratchy wins against Bangladesh and both secured comfortable wins against Pakistan.

319 - The most number of runs scored by an individual batsman in contests between India and Australia, which is held by Virat Kohli. In the recent three-match series, he had scores of 90*, 59* and 50. He scored 199 runs at an average of 199.
4/11 - The best figures by a bowler in India-Australia matches and it is held by Ravichandran Ashwin. He achieved it in the 2014 World T20 match in Dhaka.
12 - The number of matches played between India and Australia. Only Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have featured in all matches against Australia since the 2007 World Twenty20 in South Africa.
